Silver Houses
These are some images from a long and still ongoing project studying land near my home in Warwickshire, which is undergoing huge changes in land use; from agriculture to a new suburbia of around 4,000 new houses.
'Silverhouses' is named after the exposed foil-covered insulation boards that initally cover newbuilds. It's formed mostly of photographs and recordings, and things I've collected, and then ways I've found to document those without altering them too much. My focus is on living in this place and sharing it with others of all kinds; animate and inanimate.
I describe the project as a self-defined residency. This sits awkwardly with the concept of 'artist residencies' but to me it really describes how I inhabit a place as an organism. I am a currently a resident connected to everything and every more-than-human who does so too. None of us will be here forever.
