Human Oak
A collaboration with artist/producer Tara Rutledge during her residency with Classroom, at Holyhead Studio Cellars, March 2020.
Sadly cut short by the COVID19 pandemic. This digital and analogue installation in the cellars at Holyhead Studios was created and rehearsed as a result of my responding to Tara's call for collaborators. We gathered digital material together in Coventry Memorial Park around my research into oak galls and oak trees, while chatting about various parks and wild spaces the Tara knew, that I didn't as a relative newcomer to Coventry. This material was edited against an audio recording of atmospheric conditions and a reading of my poem 'Gall Baby'.
Projection, audio 'Gall Baby', oak galls, oak gall ink, sewn polythene sculpture
