This work came about from collecting leaves and and from finding signs of small lives in the shape of leaf galls and oaks galls living amongst leaf matter and bits of human detritus. I thought a lot about how small lives make space for themselves in the spaces of larger beings like humans and trees. I documented the surfaces of the leaves by painting them as faithfully as possible to the colours they displayed with printing ink and then printed them. Then I arranged the cut out printed leaves with cast interiors of knopper oak galls which are fixed to pins.
